East Zey Gu Temple

This pagoda which faces east is one of those which were built in the Sri Ksetra Pyu Period. On the walls are niches and plaster moulaings of that period. The ancient Pyu technique of arch-making with wedges is noticed here. More artistic decorations are found at this Pagoda than at any other monument of this period. It measures 27 feet long and 24 feet hight. It is a prototype of early Bagan architecture. The date and the donor are still unkown. It is registered in the list of protected ancient monuments by Archaeology, National Museum and Library Department.
